Scholarships are made available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in a Higher Education or TAFE program at RMIT. The scholarships are to assist with general education and living costs and are valued up to $800. Students with special needs are encouraged to specify the support required to assist in the completion of their studies.

Eligible Students must be:

Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students
Undergraduate or TAFE student in 2009

Students successful in receiving an RMIT Postgraduate Coursework Scholarship will receive a one-off $6,000 payment. The scholarship is to help with general education and living expenses.

Eligibility
The student must be:

In a postgraduate education program;
Be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander;
Studying full-time in RMIT program or part-time because of exceptional circumstances;
Demonstrated financial difficulties undertaking study;
Show a will to succeed

Studying a TAFE Diploma or Advanced Diploma program in a government funded program of at least one year duration (not open to apprenticeship and traineeship programs)
Be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
Studying full-time in RMIT program or part-time because of exceptional circumstances.
Demonstrated financial difficulties undertaking study

The Indigenous Access Scholarship provides a one-off payment of $4,166 to indigenous undergraduate students, particularly those from rural or remote areas of Australia who need to relocate to take up an undergraduate course or approved enabling course.

If applicable, indigenous students who receive an Indigenous Access Scholarship can also have continued access to a Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship (CECS) and/or Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship (CAS).

Eligibility
The student must be:

Commencing undergraduate studies by course start date (first day of classes) in 2009;
An Aboriginal Australian or Torres Strait Islander;
Relocating to Melbourne to study.
How to apply
VTAC applicants
VTAC applicants must apply using SEAS – Access and Equity online application located on the VTAC website. No additional form will be required.

Direct (non-VTAC) applicants and current RMIT students
Non-VTAC applicants and current RMIT students must apply using the 2009 RMIT Equity Application Form
