George Alexander Foundation Scholarships - Opens 19 January - Closes 27 March
The George Alexander Foundation Scholarships have been rejuvenated to bring them more into line with the philosophy of the Foundation. The aim of the Scholarship is to assist with living and course costs for full-time students who are commencing or continuing their studies in either TAFE or Higher Education.
Successful students will demonstrate academic ability, the will to succeed, leadership potential and/ or community involvement. The Scholarships offered this year are open to students undertaking a Higher Education or TAFE program of two or more years’ duration. The value of the Scholarship will be $7,500 per annum for two years. Students who take up these Scholarships will undertake to contribute 15 volunteer hours and will receive 5 hours training in leadership and community involvement activities
Eligible Students must :
Be Australian Citizens
Be of good academic standing and demonstrate community initiative/leadership activity
Have no outstanding fees at RMIT
Be enrolled full time in an Undergraduate or TAFE program at RMIT

Rural Grants
Rural Grants are available to RMIT students from farming backgrounds. Grants will be made for a range of essential needs including text books and study materials, computers and other necessary academic equipment, living expenses and transport costs. Grants are available for one year up to $5,000.
Eligible Students must be:
Studying full-time undergraduate or TAFE program at RMIT
From a demonstrated farming background
Australian Citizens
Demonstrated financial disadvantage

Evelyn Boekemann Scholarship
Scholarships are made available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in a Higher Education or TAFE program at RMIT. The scholarships are to assist with general education and living costs and are valued up to $800. Students with special needs are encouraged to specify the support required to assist in the completion of their studies.
Eligible Students must be:
Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students
Undergraduate or TAFE student in 2009

Indigenous Postgraduate Coursework Scholarship
Students successful in receiving an RMIT Postgraduate Coursework Scholarship will receive a one-off $6,000 payment. The scholarship is to help with general education and living expenses.
Eligibility
The student must be:
In a postgraduate education program;
Be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander;
Studying full-time in RMIT program or part-time because of exceptional circumstances;
Demonstrated financial difficulties undertaking study;
Show a will to succeed

Indigenous TAFE Diploma Scholarship
Students successful in receiving an RMIT Indigenous TAFE Scholarship will receive a $4000 scholarship. Previous recipients are encouraged to apply.
Eligibility
The student must be:
Studying a TAFE Diploma or Advanced Diploma program in a government funded program of at least one year duration (not open to apprenticeship and traineeship programs)
Be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
Studying full-time in RMIT program or part-time because of exceptional circumstances.

Indigenous Access Scholarship
The Indigenous Access Scholarship provides a one-off payment of $4,166 to indigenous undergraduate students, particularly those from rural or remote areas of Australia who need to relocate to take up an undergraduate course or approved enabling course.
If applicable, indigenous students who receive an Indigenous Access Scholarship can also have continued access to a Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship (CECS) and/or Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship (CAS).
Eligibility
The student must be:
Commencing undergraduate studies by course start date (first day of classes) in 2009;
An Aboriginal Australian or Torres Strait Islander;
Relocating to Melbourne to study.

VTAC applicants
VTAC applicants must apply using SEAS – Access and Equity online application located on the VTAC website. No additional form will be required.
Direct (non-VTAC) applicants and current RMIT students
Non-VTAC applicants and current RMIT students must apply using the 2009 RMIT Equity Application Form

Northcote Trust Scholarship
Now Open. Closes 27 March
This scholarship will be open to TAFE students in a pathway program who intend to move through into a higher degree. It is also open to Higher Education students who have moved from a Diploma at RMIT into a Higher Degree Program.
The Northcote Trust Seeks to provide assistance in the education of young people of outstanding potential, whether academic or otherwise. Its aim is to ensure that such potential will result in significant contributions to their local communities and to society generally and will not be constrained by lack of financial support.
If you are a student at RMIT considering moving (or if you have moved ) from a diploma to a degree or are moving from a certificate or apprenticeship or traineeship into a diploma, this Scholarship could be for you!
Higher Education students receive $15,000 over two years ($7,500 in each of two years in Higher Education), and
TAFE students receive $17,000 over three years ($2,000 in TAFE and $7,500 in each of two years in Higher Ed)
To be eligible for this Scholarship you will:
be an Australian citizen or the holder of a permanent humanitarian visa
be undertaking a government funded Diploma/Advanced Diploma at RMIT and looking to progress to a Commonwealth supported Undergraduate program in the same or a complementary field of study, OR have progressed to a Commonwealth supported Undergraduate program from a Diploma/ Advanced Diploma in the same or a complimentary field of study.
be of low income and or have experienced disadvantage
be able to demonstrate outstanding potential and ambition, academic or otherwise
not already have a bachelor degree or higher level award
be a student 35 years of age or under

RMIT TAFE Study Support Scholarships
Students successful in receiving a Study Support Scholarship will receive $2,000 for one year only. Previous recipients are encouraged to apply.
To be eligible students must be:
studying in an RMIT TAFE program in 2009,
in a government funded program of at least one year duration (not open to apprenticeship and traineeship programs),
Australian Citizens, have a Permanent Humanitarian Visa, or Permanent Residency Visa holder,
studying in a full-time program at RMIT, or part-time due to extenuating circumstances, AND
experiencing demonstrated financial difficulties because of extenuating circumstances.
